It is a very simple and universal concept that all men are created equal. No matter which part of the world you visit and no matter which society you observe, it is clear that not all men, women, and children are equal. A certain segment of society lives lavishly and wastefully while others live in poverty and misery.

There are many people suffering around the world especially in underdeveloped countries. However, even in developed countries such as the United States, many people do not have access to adequate health care, enough food to eat, and a roof over their heads. This should not be considered a luxury, but rather an essential right of every human being. For those of us who are fortunate, it is our obligation to help our fellow human beings in need.

Dr. Harichand & Injna Thourani Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by Dr. and Mrs. Thourani to provide healthcare education and assistance. We aim to help, the homeless, the poor, and the people in need, with food and daily necessities of life in local communities.

After coming to USA in 1969, Dr. Harichand Thourani finished his post graduate medical training in New York for five years. Later on, he served in Veterans Administration hospital in Columbia, South Carolina for two-and-a-half years. Afterwards, he practiced medicine in Marion county, city of Mullins, SC, for thirty-seven years.

During his practice in South Carolina, he never refused medical care to any patients due to their inability to pay for medical services.

In 2006, Dr. Thourani's Advanced Medical Associates was awarded Outstanding Rural Health Practice by the Rural Health Association of South Carolina at their annual conference luncheon held at Embassy Suites hotel in Columbia, SC for their dedicated service to the community and excellent patient care.

Dr. Thourani was also honored as Friend of the Month for April 2006 for his contribution to Rural Health Care at a monthly public luncheon by Greater Mullins Chamber of Commerce in Mullins, SC.

The mayor of the city of Mullins, SC wanted to honor Dr. and Mrs. Thourani as outstanding citizens and recognize their contribution to the city and proclaimed June 13, 2004 as Dr. and Mrs. Harichand H. Thourani Day in the city of Mullins at their 50th wedding anniversary celebration.  Every citizen was requested to pause and reflect upon what a devoted life of service can provide to any community and has meant to the city of Mullins through the enduring path of their lives.

During his tenure when Dr. Thourani practiced in SC, he held the position of Chief of Medicine, Chief of Medical Staff, Member Executive Committee, and was a member of many other committees in Mullins Hospital and Marion County Medical Center.

Mrs. Injna Thourani shared all the values with Dr. Thourani. She left this world on July 17, 2014. She was dedicated and also contributed to community service. They both raised their family with moral, cultural, and tranditional values all with belief in God and Humanity.

Dr. Thourani is now retired, lives in Johns Creek, GA, and wants to dedicate his time and continue healthcare and charitable services through his non-profit foundation.
